As many of you are finding out, over the Christmas - New Year holidays, many flights and hotels in Southeast Asia have been sold out for awhile now, especially the top resorts. If you are still looking to get away over the holidays, please let us know as soon as possiblle, before it becomes impossible.

What countries are hot? Indochina (especially Vietnam and Cambodia) and Thailand have both made a strong comebacks and have been busy since last fall. We'll be posting new deluxe properties that have recently opened up as well as exciting new places to visit.

China is set for an even bigger comeback - espcially the Yangtse River area. Once the Thre Gorges Project is complete, the most dramatic section of the river, what we refer to as "the heart of the Yangtze"-the area from the Three Gorges all the way upstream to Chongqing-will eventually be drowned by the completion of the Three Gorges Dam, an integral part of the Three Gorges Project. We will only be able to experience the original wonders of the Three Gorges by boat until 2007, when water will cover forever the sights we cherish today. EastQuest is planning some special departures to take advantage of low rates before the high season starts in April. Another popular area is southwest China - home to most of China's minorities and where many exciting festivals take place - from the Miao Fertility Festuval (held once every 13 years) in Guizhou - to the Litang Horse Festival - when thousands of Tibetans gather to watch the archery and horse races,  setting up colorful tents on the grassland.

Bali is still a paradise, and many travellers have been taking advantage of the great rates now available. EastQuest will be posting some special rates for Bali including air and hotels. These packages can be customised to include treks, festivals, cooking classes and more.
